6 Ways to Become Famous on TikTok in 2026
Being famous on TikTok is a “career” that has really only been around for a few years. Whether by accident or on purpose, being a TikTok star means more than just filming one video that gets a lot of views. I’m certainly not a TikTok star, but I enjoy creating TikTok videos and I’ve realized that maintaining my channel is actually a lot of hard work.
For those who don’t know, TikTok is a social media platform focused on videos that allows users to create videos up to three minutes long. It was launched in 2016 and its popularity grew rapidly. By 2018, it had 500 million subscribers and was the most downloaded app in the Apple Store. Now TikTok has more than 700 million subscribers and is the seventh most used app in the world.

So how do you become famous on TikTok? Well, sometimes it’s completely by accident. You can’t predict when or if a video will go viral, but if it does, you can be sure that the number of your followers will skyrocket faster than you can say TikTok. However, if you’re not one of the lucky ones who becomes a viral sensation overnight, there are a few things you can do to attract followers.
1. Keep Your Content Consistent
When you start posting on TikTok, it’s good to decide what type of things you want to share and stick to it. The most popular people/channels on TikTok usually revolve around one thing.

It can be anything from documenting beautiful corners of the world, sharing recipe ideas, reading poetry, creating art, or styling clothes. There are of course channels that contain many different types of videos, and once you gain followers, you can start expanding your content.
2. Post at Least Once a Day
To keep followers coming back to you, you need to be aware not only of the type of content you’re posting, but you also need to be consistent in when you post. If you dream of becoming a TikTok star, it’s good to build up a stockpile of content before you start posting. If you can come up with, for example, two weeks’ worth of videos and keep them in your drafts, you won’t be under as much pressure to film something new every day. There are also more suitable times of day for posting, but that will depend on where in the world you live.
3. Participate in TikTok Trends
One of the features that sets TikTok apart from other social media platforms is trends. They can be anything from using a certain sound to learning a dance routine or recreating recipes that have gone viral.

Even though you usually want your posts to be organic, jumping on trends is a great way to gain followers quickly, especially if you find a way to make them funny or unique.
4. Engage in Communication with Other TikTok Users
Whether by commenting, liking, or subscribing to other TikTokers’ profiles, engaging in communication with other people similar to you on TikTok is a great way to get the word out about your account. There’s also a really great feature called Duet, where you can collaborate on someone else’s video, whether by singing, sharing opinions, or copying a dance and sharing it on your page.
5. Have Fun and Be True to Yourself
Nothing stands out more than when you’re having a good time and expressing who you really are in your videos. Whether you’re giving people photography tips, talking about your experiences, giving suggestions on what to do/places to visit, make sure you’re being true to yourself.

Don’t say things you wouldn’t say to your friends or people you meet outside, because it would feel forced. Some people on TikTok become famous because people simply like who they are and what they have in their hearts.
6. Don’t Give Up
If you haven’t become a TikTok star within the first few days, don’t give up right away. Rome wasn’t built in a day, so be patient, continue with your niche content, get inspired by other TikTokers, and slowly but surely your video views will grow.
Conclusion
TikTok has faced controversy in recent years. Some people think it’s a waste of time, others don’t understand it at all, and still others don’t see the point in another scrolling app. Sure, there are plenty of nonsensical videos, but for every awful video there’s one that will make you cry with laughter. Some will teach you something, some might just change your perspective on life, and thanks to others you’ll feel better about yourself, your future, or your place in this world. If you feel like you have something worth sharing with the world, it doesn’t matter how old you are, there’s a place for you in the app. However, be careful, it’s addictive. Once you start scrolling, it’s hard to stop.
